ANZAC Day Commemorative Service 2017

On Monday 24th April, Glenmore State School paused to reflect and pay tribute to our fallen ANZAC heroes.

Mrs Lanyon opened the service and provided a history of the ANZAC tradition while Mr Dunlop spoke about the ANZAC Spirit: the courage and determination shown by our soldiers. He also made a special mention of the many Australian animals that served our country so well. Many animals including pigeons, horses and dogs have received war medals for their gallantry and bravery.

Our student leaders spoke with great reverance and all classes laid wreaths at the Alec Beesley Memorial.

Many of our Glenmore community also attended the ANZAC March through Rockhampton on ANZAC Day. It is a great spectacle to see that sea of green approach and the pride and respect on the faces of our young students.

We would like to thank cadets from the 125 Australian Cadet Unit for participating in our service.

We would also like to thank Mr Gavin Pointing, Mr McCabe, Mrs Goodsall and the senior choir for the musical support as well as Mrs Allison for organising such a wonderfully respectful service.

Lest we forget
