ANZAC Day at Glenmore

Our senior school choir performed the New Zealand National Anthem.

The Thursday, 24 April, the Glenmore State School students attended their annual ANZAC Day Service. This year the special guest was Mr Nick Quigley, OAM. Mr Quigley spoke to the students about the importance of ANZAC Day and taking time to remember the soldiers who have died protecting our country and way of life.

Our school captain, Daniel, read the Prayer of Remembrance, while Kaylah, our vice-captain, read The Ode.

Glenmore's other school captain, Kaylah, was joined by two of our Prep students to lay a wreath while "Abide with Me" played.

All classes made a wreath and placed them at our Alex Beesley memorial. Mr Beesley was a Rockhampton Airman who had attended Glenmore State School as a young boy. He died in 1942, at the age of 26, during night bombings in Germany.

Our students also proudly represented Glenmore at the annual ANZAC Day March in Rockhampton.
