Book Week

Staff and students enjoy Book Week disco
August 21 signified the start of Glenmore State School’s annual Book Fair/ Book Week and once again, the Glenmore community embraced this marvellous event. We raised over $4500 in the 3 day sale which earns the school a commission of about $1200 to be used for library and school resources.  So thank you to all those staff, parents and students who supported us, by purchasing goods from the Fair.
The Disco and Dress up day on Thursday was again a huge highlight of the weekly celebrations. The ‘Escape to Everywhere’ theme provided for a wide range of imaginative and inspired costumes. The amount of effort that students and parents went to with costumes was most impressive and this effort adds value to reading in a child’s eyes. When children see adults valuing and enjoying books, they do to. And the research overwhelmingly shows that reading is vital to a successful life. So it’s fantastic to see staff and parents all getting involved in events like these and modelling how important and enjoyable reading is to students. The gold coin donations raised over $250 for the Glenmore Student Forum.
I don’t think it’s ever been so easy to play “Where’s Wally!” Wally was found in nearly every classroom and around every corner on dress up day.
I would like to thank all those involved in planning, organising and presenting this wonderful event. Without their help, none of this would be possible
