IDX Flint: Culture and Technology program

The Indigenous Digital Excellence (IDX) Flint program aims to spark the interest, ideas and talent of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in making digital technology. IDX Flint provides $25,000 worth of support from the IDX Initiative for regional communities through hands on workshops for Indigenous young people, skills development for local facilitators, as well as equipment and educational resources.

Glenmore has fortunately been selected to participate in the program, in conjunction with Helem Yumba and Darumbal Youth.

Our students participated in a two-day workshop where they learnt about Darumbal culture and how to program robots to travel around sacred land (as outlined on maps by our adopted Elder Uncle Bill). The students applied maths to adjust their robots, ensuring they showed respect to the land by keeping the robots off the map.
