Students compete in the Maths Team Challenge

​The Year 5 team solve Mathematical problems.

​Year 5 and 6 students were selected to represent Glenmore State School at the Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers' (QAMT) Maths Team Challenge.

The Challenge was designed to help students:

  • Advance their interest in creative problem solving
  • Acquire problem solving skills and processes
  • Develop teamwork skills
  • Be engaged in a day of intellectual fun.

 

On the day the students participated in four activities:

  • Relay Event: Students worked in pairs
  • Teams Event: Students worked as a team to solve problems
  • Estimation Event: Students had to estimate answers and develop their best guess
  • Extended Learning Program: Students had the opportunity to complete maths activities that required Higher Order Thinking.

 

The students loved the day! Thanks to the dedicated teachers from QAMT!
