125 year anniversary

In 2014 Glenmore State School celebrated 125 years of quality education.

On August 30 the school celebrated the anniversary with a morning tea and school fete.

At the morning tea several presentations were made. One presentation was of a school logo mosaic, created by Mrs Kay Barram and Mrs Leonie McCallum, who are current staff members. The mosaic was unveiled by Mrs Barram and Mrs Janet Corrie, who was a member of the P&C committee when the school logo was being designed.

A presentation was also made to the AFS PCYC Men's Shed to thank them for kindly restoring the seating used by students at the school's bus shelter.

Mr Neil Harris, a previous Glenmore teacher and the great-grandson of the original school principal, Mr Edward Costello, cut the anniversary cake.

The new formal school uniforms were unveiled at the morning tea. The students looked very smart! These uniforms will be provided to students who represent the school in a formal capacity. They were recently worn at the Youth Parliament, where the students made a lasting impression.

In recognition of his commitment to the Glenmore School Community, a new trophy was named in Mr Mal McArthur's honour. The trophy, called the "Spirit of Glenmore", will be awarded annually to a student who regularly demonstrates that they go above and beyond the call of duty, just as Mr McArthur does!

At the fete there were class stalls, historical displays and performances by students.
