Glenmore State School’s library opened in June 2011. It is an exciting space designed for maximum fun, flexibility and learning. We aim to provide a well-resourced and inviting environment which fosters a love of reading and the development of student information and digital literacy skills.

The library houses a collection that includes fiction, junior fiction, non fiction and a series section for students. For teachers there is a large collection of teacher reference, reading schemes, and now resources to support the new Australian curriculum.

Library hours

  • Before school: 8am to 8.45am
  • First break: 11am to 11.40am
  • Second break: 1.15pm to 1.40pm
  • After school: 3pm to 3.10pm

Borrowing

  • Prep and Year One students may borrow one book at a time.
  • Year Two and Year Three students may borrow two books at a time.
  • Year Four and above may borrow up to five books at a time.
  • All student loans are for two weeks, but students should return books as soon as they have read them.
  • Classes are allocated a borrowing time each week. Students may also change books in their own time.
  • Parents and carers are welcome to come and help their child select a suitable book.

Library bags

  • Students in Prep to Year 6 must have a library bag to borrow.
  • Plastic bags are provided for students to use.

Overdue library books

Students with lost books will be asked to pay $10 for each book that is missing. The money is paid to the school office. The student needs to bring the receipt to the library to show they have paid for it.

Students with overdue library books are not allowed to borrow until the book has been returned or paid for.

Damaged books

Books should be kept in a clean, dry location. Should a book get damaged, return it to the school as soon as possible as we may be able to fix it. Books that cannot be fixed need to be paid for.
